We're 30 Weeks!!!!

We're thirty weeks, we're thirty weeks, we're thirty weeks!!!! I have to keep saying this out loud. This was the next major hurdle to be crossed and WE JUST CROSSED IT!!!

Here's a cute picture of Shelly at 30 WEEKS!!!
Today was our big Disney on Ice Date with Tate and her Mommies. It started off with us having a nice Sunday drive downtown. Then, as we're sitting at a red light, waiting to turn, all of a sudden, BAM, we were rear ended! First I look over at Shelly to make sure she's okay. Then I look in the rear view mirror and see the girl backing way. I tried to hurry and memorize her license plate number because it looked as if she may take off.

Shelly stays in the truck and calls 911. I get out to talk to the girl. Her car is barely running. She's done some major damage to it. She's just a young thing, maybe 17, and is freaking out. She kept saying, "I've got to go. I've got to get back to church. My boyfriends going to kill me." She then says, "There's no damage to your truck. I've got to go." I let her know we need to exchange information in case either one of us has any problems. She was reluctant to do this but I did get a name and number. Who knows if it's really her name and number. I do however, have the license plate number. When she left I was just waiting for her car to stall. I'm pretty sure she totalled her engine.

Then I get back in the truck and start freaking out again. Is Shelly okay? Is Riley okay? Is this going to send her into premature labor? I have developed this MAJOR need to protect them at all times. Both Shelly and Riley are okay and there were no contractions. I on the other hand, proceed to have a little breakdown. It freaked me out a little. We're just hitting 30 weeks and the thought of something going wrong at this point hit me hard.

We proceed to the Arena where Disney on Ice is playing. We all of course need treats and Tate needs a prize. We decide on Popcorn and Hot Dogs. I go to put the condiments on my dog and the slippery little sucker slips right off my bun onto the floor. That's it. I've hit my breaking point over a stupid hot dog and I start to cry. Shelly basically tells me to get a grip, it's supposed to be a fun day, and to take a damn Xanex. I did and felt much, much better.

Tate of course had fun watching the Disney Characters. I've included a couple of cute pictures of our day below.

We finished off the day by going to see LB and Erin's new house. It's very nice and we're super excited for them. Then, we all went for dinner at Chili's. Now we're home ready to watch the Amazing Race and the L Word.

Can you believe Riley's around 3 pounds and more than 15 inches long as of 30 weeks! It becomes more and more real every day!

Sorry about the car accident. I was in a fender bender when I was 8 months pregnant with my son. Scared the bejeezus out of my partner and I. Same kind of thing - young kid not paying attention. I'm glad everyone seems fine.

Looks like you guys had a fun time just like us!

When I was about 7 months pregnant I almost got myself into a car accident, and I was freaking out. I am glad you guys are okay. Life is much scarier with a kid in the picture. I am still scared to get in a car accidnet with Cam in the car.

Our Conception Story

After eight years together we were pretty sure we'd spend our life with our four legged kids, doing lots of camping, and traveling the world. On August 12, 2004 that all changed with the birth of our God Daughter Tate. We immediately fell completely in love with her and soon began to re-think our decision of not having kids.

In October 2005 we began the process of trying to conceive. As soon as we started trying Shelly began having very erratic cycles which made the process that more complicated. After four tries over six months we decided to schedule a consultation with the a Reproductive Specialist. We were desperate to conceive and on a limited time frame since Shelly had just turned 41. Dee was 35 at the time but not able to conceive due to a medical procedure.

Our first appointment with the Repro Man was May 2006. He suggested we try IVF using Dee's eggs and Shelly as the gestational mother. He felt this scenario would give us the highest chance for success of a healthy pregnancy. We spent a short amount of time weighing our options and decided this was the best choice. We began our first IVF cycle in August. They did the Egg Retrieval and Fertilization on 8/31. Three days later, 9/3, they transferred three embryos into Shelly. Then the wait began.

Shelly promised not to begin the home pregnancy test too soon. Dee had to travel out of state for business a week after the transfer and asked Shelly to please wait to test. BUT, the wait was too much for her and she started testing after a week. At first there was no line. But after a couple of days testing a faint line started to appear. When Dee came home from her trip Shelly told her, "I know I'm pregnant." Dee didn't believe her and insisted the line wasn't dark enough so she tested herself to compare. There was absolutely no line. She began to believe Shelly was pregnant but still had doubt. Dee went to the store and bought another brand of testing strips. After five home tests, we were convinced we we're pregnant due to all positive results. A blood test at two weeks confirmed it; we were going to have a baby!
