SINGLE DIGITS & 7 Useless Facts

We are in SINGLE DIGITS!!! Just 9 days (or sleeps for you Canadians) until Riley comes!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!

Shelly's still holding up. She had a three hour business meeting to attend this morning. Maybe sitting in a meeting that long will send her into labor. One can only wish!

Last week I was tagged by several people to complete a Meme. I totally don't know what a Meme is but I'll play along. The object of the Meme is this: Name 7 facts about yourself that you want people to know about. (I don't know if I want people to know about them but hey, it's all in fun.) Then tag 7 people and they should do the same. I've thought about this for days and am now finally ready to provide you with seven useless facts about me.

Fact #1: I'm totally obsessed with the Gi.rls Ne.xt Do.or. You know, the TV show about H.ugh Hef.ner, Playboy Extraordinaire, and his three live in Girlfriends. For some reason it fascinates me. I can't believe 1) They live like they do, and 2) They can at times be so incredibly intellectually challenged. Love it! Shelly thinks I'm nuts.

Fact #2: My feet look like I'm a direct descendant of Fr.ed Flin.tstone. They are wide, flat and fat. They're so wide I have a hard time finding shoes ANYWHERE that fit me. Yes, even D.SW, the gigantic shoe warehouse struggles to carry enough wide width shoes for my fat feet. Hopefully Riley WON'T inherit this from me.

Fact #3: Dir.ty Dan.cing came out on DVD when I was in High School. I developed a hugh smash on Pa.trick Sw.ayze. My friend borrowed me her VHS copy and the night before I gave it back to her I stayed up ALL NIGHT watching it because I couldn't get enough of him. Weird!

Fact #4: I truly believe cookies should become the fifth food group. Wouldn't life be great if everyone could claim "a cookie a day keeps the bad thoughts away". MMMM....cookies.

Fact #5: I love Sunday NFL Football!!!! I love to sit on the couch, eat football munchies, and watch football ALL DAY!

Fact #6: I can't stand it when cupboard doors or drawers are left open. Drives me nuts! I have a dear friend who I lived with at one point. (You know who you are 9.) She always left the bathroom drawers open in the morning. She claimed, "She was running late for work and didn't have time to shut them." Drove me nuts. Still does to this day! Please, everyone, it only takes a half a second to close a drawer or door and doesn't require much energy. Please, for my sake JUST DO IT!

Finally, Fact #7: I love Belle. Not Day.s of our Li.ves Belle but Be.auty and the Be.ast Belle! I love that she loves books! I love the storyline. I love the Beast. I love, love, love that he gives her a library. I solemnly swear, that before I die, I will be Belle for Halloween one year.

Everyone I know has been tagged so I'm not tagging anyone!
And, finally, just a reminder...ONLY 9 DAYS!!!

That's awesome. Congrats! You are an inspiration. I am 28 years old and live with my girlfriend and I want to have a baby in the next couple of years.

Our Conception Story

After eight years together we were pretty sure we'd spend our life with our four legged kids, doing lots of camping, and traveling the world. On August 12, 2004 that all changed with the birth of our God Daughter Tate. We immediately fell completely in love with her and soon began to re-think our decision of not having kids.

In October 2005 we began the process of trying to conceive. As soon as we started trying Shelly began having very erratic cycles which made the process that more complicated. After four tries over six months we decided to schedule a consultation with the a Reproductive Specialist. We were desperate to conceive and on a limited time frame since Shelly had just turned 41. Dee was 35 at the time but not able to conceive due to a medical procedure.

Our first appointment with the Repro Man was May 2006. He suggested we try IVF using Dee's eggs and Shelly as the gestational mother. He felt this scenario would give us the highest chance for success of a healthy pregnancy. We spent a short amount of time weighing our options and decided this was the best choice. We began our first IVF cycle in August. They did the Egg Retrieval and Fertilization on 8/31. Three days later, 9/3, they transferred three embryos into Shelly. Then the wait began.

Shelly promised not to begin the home pregnancy test too soon. Dee had to travel out of state for business a week after the transfer and asked Shelly to please wait to test. BUT, the wait was too much for her and she started testing after a week. At first there was no line. But after a couple of days testing a faint line started to appear. When Dee came home from her trip Shelly told her, "I know I'm pregnant." Dee didn't believe her and insisted the line wasn't dark enough so she tested herself to compare. There was absolutely no line. She began to believe Shelly was pregnant but still had doubt. Dee went to the store and bought another brand of testing strips. After five home tests, we were convinced we we're pregnant due to all positive results. A blood test at two weeks confirmed it; we were going to have a baby!
