2 Months - Come and Gone

Can you believe Riley hit her 2 Month Milestone and I didn't even blog about it! Bad Mom! Although I have been out of town.

We took Riley for her 2 month check-up and shots on 7/27. She was such a trooper! She cried as the nurse was giving her the shots but was quickly comforted when she was done. She weighed in at 10 lbs 9 0z and 22 inches. She's in the 30th percentile for both height and weight. She's grown like a weed, Doctor's words, since her 1 month appointment. Way to go Riley!

She is pretty much sleeping through the night, at least most of the time. She typically falls asleep around 8:30 and will sleep until 4:00 or 5:00 am. Last night she slept from 8:00 until 5:00. Good girl!!! Too bad the dogs had us up NUMEROUS times. Sometimes the dogs are worse then the baby.

She's starting to imitate certain things we do. We can get her to imitate us sticking our tongue out. It's the cutest thing to see that little tongue sticking out. And, she waves at us! Now that really is the cutest thing. About 80% of the time when we wave at her she'll bring her cute little arm up to the side of her head and you see her little fingers trying to wave. It's the cutest thing! I have to get it on video.

I was in Denver last week with my girlfriends at Stam.pin' Up's national convention. We had a BLAST! We saw lots of great tips, tricks and trends for paper crafting, stamping, card making, scrapbooking, etc. We got to play with lots of new product and even won a few things. But, just hanging with the girls was by far the best. Sometimes you need to just get away from all responsibilities and be a girl.

Even thought I had a blast in Denver it was SO HARD being away from my girls. But, it was wonderful coming home to them.

Oh, my new craft room flooded this weekend! Damn rain!!! Just when I was getting so close to getting it done! We've now got the carpet pulled up trying to dry. I HOPE, hope, hope we don't have to put in new carpet and paint since it just got redone! But, we'll deal with whatever needs to be done.

I leave you with a few pictures of the princess. These aren't the most recent pics but they should help those needing a "Riley Fix". I PROMISE to download the recent pics tonight and get them posted tomorrow!!!

Time Flies

Our baby girl is two months old! Two months! Wow!!! It seems like just yesterday we were headed to the hospital to have our precious miracle. If it's even possible I love her more and more each day. She's such a calm, happy, easy going baby. Her smiles melt my heart. I so love being a Mom. Yes, there are times when it's tough but every minute is worth it.

Two months into motherhood and Shelly and I make a pretty good team. We take turns getting up with her at night. Which is usually around 3:00 am. Shelly's the Mom in Charge (MoC) Monday through Friday. I'm the MoC on weekends and sometimes on weeknights. I even took Miss Riley for her first trip to the Grocery Store this weekend. She was, as always, a good baby. She just sat in her seat and took in all the sites and sounds.

We are so lucky to have the support and love from our family and friends. Shelly and I have been able to have date night every week since Riley came home from the hospital. Even though we spend the entire time talking about our baby. :) And we always rush to get home to her as soon as we can. But, at least we get the time alone together.

Ok, enough gushing. How about some pictures!

Baby's first 4th! Thanks to some dear friends in New York for sending Riley this adorable 4th of July onesie! Riley was quite the party animal on the 4th as you can tell.

Here's the little Miss giving a shout out to her New York peeps. Another adorable gift from our New York friends. Riley's accumulating quite the travel shirt collection.

A few weeks ago Tate (and her Mommies) brought Talor over to meet Miss Riley. Here's a little slide show of their adventure.

Grandparent Weekend

The past week has been very busy. I don't have all of the pictures downloaded yet so here is a brief update, in pictures, of everything we did the weekend prior to the 4th of July.
A week ago Thursday Riley got to meet her Opa and Oma (Grandpa Joe and Grandma Joyce, Dee's Dad and his wife) for the first time. I'm so glad they finally got to see our little miracle. The next day Riley and I spent the day hanging with Oma and Opa and Riley made her first stop at the Dutch Store. (Strange, I know, but my family is from Holland. The Dutch Store is HUGE with our Klan!). The picture to the right is Riley with Oma and Opa.

Later that day we went over to Aunt Angie's (Shelly's sister) to visit. We sat in the backyard, enjoyed the sun, and just visited. Below are a couple of pics of Riley with Grandma Shanni (Shelly's Mom) and Aunt Angie.

On Saturday Riley got a special surprise and spent the morning Stamping with Momma Dee and her friends.

Sunday we had breakfast with Oma and Opa before their drive back to Las Vegas. We of course went to Cra.cker Bar.rel, Grandpa's favorite and must see on every trip to Utah.

Next up, the Sprin.gville Canyon to visit Grandma Connie and Grandpa Keith (Dee's mom and husband). We sat outside and enjoyed the sun and fresh canyon air. Riley also got to meet Grandma's dog Willie for the first time. I of course have also included a photo of Willie as he's quite the photogenic pooch.

We had a great time with all of our Grandparents and feel incredibly blessed to have so many wonderful people that love Riley so very much.
I leave you with a few more of my favorite pics from the Grandparent Weekend.

Smile :)

"Riley, Mama got a new camera. Let's get a nice big smile for our blog!"

"Mom, what about this smirk? Is that close enough to a smile?"

"C'mon sweetheart. Let's have a big smile! Smirking doesn't quite cut it."

"But Mom, I think this is definitely a good look for me."

"Ri, one big smile please. C'mon let's see that pretty smile."

"Gosh Mom, this is as good as it's gonna get. Now give me my binky!"

"That's a big girl! Thanks for the smile!'

PG??

Online Dating

Mingle2 - Online Dating

How in the world can Role Playing with Kids be rated G and this blog is rated PG. She's a total rebel and I'm just sweet and innocent. (Just kidding K, you're not a rebel, but you know I'm innocent!) I can live with PG. Riley was quite surprised. Check out her reaction! Oh no!

Don't Take the Binky!

I swore I would never have a Binky baby. Yeah right!!! The NICU used Binky's to help keep the babies settled because they can't give one on one attention. Well, Little Miss Riley developed her addiction there and it's still going strong. Below I share with you what happens when you take her Bink away, with sound. Quite the temper! And, don't you just love the shirt? You bet she's "Worth the Wait"!

It's a Crazy Life

OK, I know all first time Mom's are busy. But seriously, our house is also completely torn apart making life that much more hectic. Our entire kitchen floor has been ripped up and is in the process of having new tile installed. This means NO KITCHEN! It's a little challenging with a newborn. And, our basement is still not finished, but getting much closer. I can't wait to get the home improvements DONE!

It was my birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me.... I LOVE BIRTHDAYS! So, it's been all about me, and of course Riley, for the past week. Shelly got me a new Digital Camera. It rocks! Hopefully I can get pictures posted tonight.

I'm super busy at work today but at least had to let you all know we're here, we're happy, and we're loving our baby girl.

And finally, to check out some too cute pics of Riley, go to my cousin Melanie's blog at My Four Sons and check out the slide show she did of Riley from our family baby shower this weekend, under the Sweet Miracles post from Sunday. Thanks Melanie! The pictures are ADORABLE! And, welcome to the blogging world!

Our Conception Story

After eight years together we were pretty sure we'd spend our life with our four legged kids, doing lots of camping, and traveling the world. On August 12, 2004 that all changed with the birth of our God Daughter Tate. We immediately fell completely in love with her and soon began to re-think our decision of not having kids.

In October 2005 we began the process of trying to conceive. As soon as we started trying Shelly began having very erratic cycles which made the process that more complicated. After four tries over six months we decided to schedule a consultation with the a Reproductive Specialist. We were desperate to conceive and on a limited time frame since Shelly had just turned 41. Dee was 35 at the time but not able to conceive due to a medical procedure.

Our first appointment with the Repro Man was May 2006. He suggested we try IVF using Dee's eggs and Shelly as the gestational mother. He felt this scenario would give us the highest chance for success of a healthy pregnancy. We spent a short amount of time weighing our options and decided this was the best choice. We began our first IVF cycle in August. They did the Egg Retrieval and Fertilization on 8/31. Three days later, 9/3, they transferred three embryos into Shelly. Then the wait began.

Shelly promised not to begin the home pregnancy test too soon. Dee had to travel out of state for business a week after the transfer and asked Shelly to please wait to test. BUT, the wait was too much for her and she started testing after a week. At first there was no line. But after a couple of days testing a faint line started to appear. When Dee came home from her trip Shelly told her, "I know I'm pregnant." Dee didn't believe her and insisted the line wasn't dark enough so she tested herself to compare. There was absolutely no line. She began to believe Shelly was pregnant but still had doubt. Dee went to the store and bought another brand of testing strips. After five home tests, we were convinced we we're pregnant due to all positive results. A blood test at two weeks confirmed it; we were going to have a baby!
